The Supply Chain Team Leader will form an integral part of the supply chain function in supporting the achievement of Operational objectives. With a strong, solid background in mechanical engineering, procurement and supply chain management, you will take a proactive approach in reviewing current systems and procedures, making recommendations and implementing changes. The role is key to leading the business forward by securing quality suppliers of materials, treatments and components; and covering price, delivery and quality targets. This role will report into the Supply Chain Manager and will support the whole supply chain team in achieving targets set. The role will have a clear focus, supporting primarily the supply chain function at a strategic level. Including achieving objectives in regards to supplier performance, quality, cost and the outsourcing of machined components.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•           Managing and controlling external suppliers with particular emphasis on the purchase of treatments and finished parts production.

•           Ensure parts and treatments are bought at the most competitive price and delivered on time for production.

•           Establish strategic relationships with key suppliers who are aligned to the company's needs.

•           Identify new suppliers, agree terms and support negotiation of supply agreements where appropriate.

•           Foster close working relationships with associated departments eg. Sales, Engineering, Production and Business Development.

•           Continually improve purchasing methods and drive down external spend.

•           Supplier visits both in the UK and abroad.

•           To carry out a comprehensive review of the Purchasing function and its methodology and identify and implement improvements.

•           Full involvement specifically with technical and engineering departments both internally and externally in support of product sourcing and transfers.

•           Management of the MRP/ERP system.

Other Duties:
•           Any reasonable task requested by the company.

•           Strong mechanical engineering background, preferably in an aerospace manufacturing environment.

•           3 years minimum supervisory experience. Minimum 5 years previous experience in a supply chain role, ideally including outsourcing of machined components both in the UK and overseas.

•           High competency level in use of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, as a minimum).

•           Full Driving License required.

•           Required to control and reduce external spend whilst developing a robust supplier base.

•           Able to bring a new dimension to procurement activities.

•           Fully conversant with modern procurement and supply chain techniques.

•           Experience of Purchasing bespoke, manufactured parts including scheduled deliveries. Experience of working with MRP systems is essential.

•           Representing the section at internal meetings and presenting Purchasing performance achievements.

•           Management and coordination of Purchasing activities with relation to Cost, Delivery and Quality performance.

•           Mentoring new starters, providing 'on the job' training to existing team members, and ensuring that the team are satisfactorily supported in their day to day work activities.
